There is also the case of complexity. Once the speaker is using way too many sophisticated words or unnecessary issues and details, the listener will zone out and learn to imagine all sorts of implications for the discussion accessible and in the process missing out on some of the important key points. Another example is when a house better half is struggling with the daily home chores while her hubby is away at the job and her kids in college. She can play any kind of music she perceives fit while she works and she will get the work well done very quickly because her attention on both work and music will be passive. The positive results that passive hearing produce here is that it can help the girl get some rest without stressing her mind about any of it since she will not be attending to, and it’ll help the house wife to get the job done without feeling bored and lonely.

In conclusion, the main points mentioned above is that if passive tuning in is adopted when hearing lectures or something important, it is known as to be always a bad habit because it produces negative results. If passive listening is implemented when listening to an mp3 or radio then it is positive and even recommended.
