The adolescent brain development is during the child and teenage age. The most known action of this age is irrational actions. Although, there is a reason for this. The amygdala has not yet fully formed. This region of the brain is responsible for immediate reactions, such as fear and aggression. The frontal cortex has not yet full formed also. This area of the brain controls the reasoning aspects of human behavior. This forming maturity will go all the way into adulthood.

Carbohydrates are an important part of the human diet. A person with a low-carb diet is more likely to be depressed, anxious, and angry. This is why carbs are so important for mental health. Carbs produce energy and calories for the brain. Some healthy carbs for the body are fruits, vegetables, legumes, and more. Although, a person on a low-carb diet is affected differently. And not in a good way. They may suffer from traumatic weight gain, digestive issues, loss of memory, mental and physical weakness, all the way down to dizziness.

The nervous system suffers. The body is getting no energy, so it does not know what to do.

Proteins are essential for the human body, especially the brain. The brain and its neurons are mostly made of fat even though they communicate through the proteins. When people eat proteins, they increase the amount of amino acids called tyrosine. Tyrosine’s function is to prompt the brain to manufacture norepinephrine and dopamine. These are both chemical messengers in the brain. A negative effect of proteins may by weight gain.

Fats, also, help your brain function more efficiently. Fats have many functions and reasons. More importantly, they even serve as protection for our organs. Fats are divided into something called Omega-3 fatty acids. Food that is known to be healthy fats are nuts, fish, avocado, and vegetable oils. Fatty-acids can produce substances that regulate blood pressure, blood clots, blood lipid levels, immune response, and inflammation response. Fats absorb and carry vitamins throughout the body.

Micronutrients are known more as minerals and vitamins. These minerals and vitamins have to be consumed through a healthy diet. Moreas, a dietary compound. They are divided into four categories. The bodily effects it has is increased heart rate and blood pressure, increased alertness, and reduced appetite. A more concentrated effect nicotine has is its disruption between the brain’s neurotransmitters and receptors. Any repeated use of nicotine only stresses the brain to need it more. This makes the brains function feel abnormal without nicotine in its system. When it is in the body’s system, nicotine activates a reward circuit producing a pleasurable feeling when using.

A brain consumed with marijuana has shown conflicting and terrifying results. When adolescence uses marijuana, the effects are far more severe. Seen as the brain is not yet fully developed. They may experience worsening memory, learning, and impulse control. Even a loss of up to eight IQ points fall when you are using. A decline of verbal ability after using this drug is a very popular long term effect. Marijuana alters the brains hippocampus with the high THC levels. With this, people lose neurons and that results in decreasing ability to learn new information.

Cocaine can cause major brain damage with only being used a few times. One of the most known effects of crack cocaine is the traumatic emotional effects. Serious depression is a huge side effect of this drug. With this, anyone who uses this drug may experience permanent depression and ongoing mental treatment. Depression is just one of many long-term side effects. Auditory hallucinations, restlessness, paranoia, and psychosis have an increased potential for these side effects after using. Cocaine can also abuse and damage the cardiovascular system.

Alcohol varies in how it affects the brain. In some instances, it is not long-term. Some impairments are only evident when having one or two drinks and slowly goes away with time. These impairments would include: blurred vision, difficulty walking, slurred speech, slowed reaction times, and impaired memory. The effects of alcohol all rely on how much the person indulges and how many times. There are many factors when to know how alcohol affects the brain. For example, the age of when the person began drinking and the age when they stopped will indicate how bad the damage would be.

Schizophrenia only effects one percent of the U.S. population. This disorder is nothing to play around with and is very serious. When this disorder is active in the brain, some symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, trouble with thinking and concentration, and even the lack of motivation. Episodes in this disorder are very scary for not only the families, but also the person who has to deal with it. Of course, the disease only worsens with time and is debilitating to the patient. Without a cure, there are only treatments that can make quality of life improve for the patient. There are many structural changes with a schizophrenic brain. The ventricles are enlarged and there are holes all over the brain. These structural changes lead to functional changes as well. Signaling of the brain is forever altered.

A stroke victim’s brain damage can vary depending on which side of the hemisphere was affected. This means the damage can be a traumatic difference. A right-brain stroke can be very difficult to notice at first. This is solely because of the communication impairments that goes along with the damages. This means, a right-brain stroke victim may have a hard time processing visual and verbal information and cognitive skills. Poor judgement, short attention span, and short-term memory loss are examples of some long term effects a stroke may have on the brain. Left-brain stroke victims are very different in some ways. Communication impairments are still a huge side effect. Paralysis is an inevitable side effect of a left-brain stroke. They can also experience slurred speech from one side of the face. Motor skills may be impaired after a stroke, also. There are many ways a caregiver can take care of these victims. Even though, a victim of a stroke cannot undo their damage.
